Minors


Minors are required to provide the following documents:


  • An original document and a copy of birth certificate of a minor;

  • If a parent or minor has changed his/her name after receiving the child’s birth certificate, he/she should provide documents verify it for example: marriage certificates / divorce certificates or certificate from Bureau of Acts of Civil Status (an original document and a copy).

  • A filled-in application form signed by parents (question 37 and a last two pages of the application form,generally the 6 and 7 pages).

  • If the minor name is endorsed on either of the parent’s passport, to provide a copy of the first page of that passport and a copy of the page on which the name of the child is endorsed.

If a minor is traveling with parents, the following documents should be provided:

  • a confirmation of an accommodation for the trip shared with the minor;

  • round-trip tickets for the parents and the child;

At presence of valid visas of the parents :

  • a copies of the valid visas;

  • the first pages of the parent’s international passport with personal data and originals of their passports.

If a minor is traveling with one of his parents, the following documents should be provided:

  • a confirmation of an accommodation for the trip shared with the minor;

  • round-trip tickets for the parent and the child;

  • a copy of the parent’s valid visa ;

  • a copy of the first page of the parent’s international passport with his personal data;

  • a notarized consent form signed by the second parent (both original and a copy) and a copy of his/hers passport.

The original notarized consent form is submitted to the Embassy / Consulate General of Germany for consideration and will be returned only upon collection of the passport.

If a minor is traveling with accompanying person, the following documents should be provided:

  • a confirmation of an accommodation for the trip shared with the minor;

  • round-trip tickets for the accompanying person and the child;

  • a copy of the valid visa of the accompanying person;

  • a copy of the first page of the accompanying person’s international passport with his personal data ;

  • notarized consent form signed by both parents for leaving the country and entering the Shengen zone with accompanying person (both original and a copy) and copies of their passports.

The original notarized consent form is submitted to the Embassy / Consulate General of Germany for consideration and will be returned only upon collection of the passport.

If a child travels with his legal guardian, the following documents are required:

  • a confirmation of an accommodation for the trip shared with the minor ;

  • round-trip tickets for the legal guardian and the child;

  • a copy of the valid visa of the guardian;

  • a copy of the first page of the guardian’s international passport with his personal data;

  • documents proving the termination of parental rights or the loss of parents;

  • court decision on the appointment of a guardian;

  • consent form from the legal guardian.

If a child’s parent is absent, the following documents should be provided:

  • an original document and a copy of death certificate of deceased parent;

  • a certificate of termination of parental rights;

  • when the father’s name is mentioned by the mother choice on child’s birth certificate is required to provide form № 25 (a certificate taken in a regional Register Office);

  • an appropriate police certificate if a parent has gone missing or his whereabouts is not known.

If a minor is traveling on his/her own, the following documents should be provided:

  • a notarized consent form, signed by the person / persons, possessing parental rights (original and copy);

  • copy of the passport of the person / persons with parental rights.

The original notarized consent form is submitted to the Embassy / Consulate General of Germany for processing and will be returned only upon collection of the passport.

The application form and other visa related documents, must be signed by at least one person with parental rights.



  • Original and copy of birth certificate
  • If one of the parents or the child has changed the surname after receiving the child's birth certificate, then it is necessary to provide the original documents confirming the change of the surname - certificate of marriage / divorce, change of name
  • Completed visa application signed by both parent / guardian in two places - usually on pages 5 and 6;
    • in the event of the death of one of the parents or the deprivation of his parental rights, it is necessary to provide the originals of the relevant documents;
    • if at the birth of the child the father was recorded according to the words of the mother, you must provide a certificate from the registry office - form 25
    • if one of the parents is missing or his whereabouts are not established, you must provide a certificate from the police
  • notarized consent from all persons with parental (guardian) rights to travel abroad unaccompanied and for a long stay of the child in the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany for the purpose of education/permanent residence (depends on the purpose of the stay).
  • copy of the parent's passport giving consent for the child to leave
  • for the purpose of stay "Education": notarial confirmation from parents / guardians indicating the person who is entrusted with the exercise of parental / guardian rights in Germany
  • for the purpose of stay "Education": a free-form letter from the person who is entrusted with the exercise of parental / guardianship rights in Germany
  • for the purpose of stay "Education": a copy of the passport or other ID of the parents and the person who is entrusted with the exercise of parental / guardian rights in Germany, as well as a copy of the document confirming the legal residence of this person in Germany (for example, a residence permit).

The documents issued by the registry office or the court must have an apostille. This rule does not apply to German documents and, as a rule, documents from other countries of the European Union. Please note that the apostille must be on the original document (not on copies). If there is an apostille, then it must also be translated.

All documents not in German or in English must be submitted with a certified German translation. Translations made by a translator in the Russian Federation must be notarized. For translations performed by a sworn translator in Germany, notarization is not required.

Translation of civil and foreign passports, medical insurance, as well as a notarized power of attorney for submitting documents to VisaMetric into German is not required.

All original documents and their translations must be submitted with 2 copies. No notarization of copies of documents is required.
