Processing Time



Visametric will transfer your documents to the Visa Office of the Embassy/Consulate. Processing time for a visa in general is 15 calendar days. Kindly note that the review process begins after the documents has been received by the Diplomatic Mission.

Applicants submitting their visa application in our branch offices have to take into account extra working days (typically 2 working days) to their processing time as their visa application will first be sent to the VisaMetric Moscow office and back.

Please note that the German Embassy in Moscow reserves the right to request missing or additional documents in the process of considering an application for a visa, which may lead to an increase in the processing time for a visa application.

Visa application documents can be submitted not earlier than 6 months before the scheduled trip.

We kindly ask you to submit your application in advance as the processing time for each application depends on the Diplomatic Mission. The decision to approve or refuse a visa is entirely up to the Diplomatic Mission.

Applicants also need to be aware that, especially during busy season around German and Russian holidays, the processing time may be extended. In this regard, it is recommended to submit documents in advance.

Furthermore applicants need to consider that VisaMetric’s/Diplomatic Mission’s official holidays may extend the visa application processing time.



Accepted sets of documents are forwarded through VisaMetric offices to an authorized diplomatic mission. Please note that the review process starts from the moment the set of documents is received by the Diplomatic Mission.

The review process of an application for a visa for students with admission to study takes, as a rule, from 4 weeks.

The review process of an application for a visa for stay with the purpose of internship usually takes 5 to 10 working days.

The review process of an application for the EU Blue Card, to work as a researcher, visiting scientist and research fellow, as well as for accompanying family members, usually takes 5 to 10 working days.

The review process of an application for specialists with secondary vocational or higher education as employees, as well as for accompanying family members, usually takes up to 3 weeks.

The process of considering an application for a visa for family reunification takes, as a rule, from 3 months. In the case of reunification with an EU citizen (excluding Germany), the processing time usually takes from 5 working days.

Please note that the German Embassy in Moscow reserves the right to request missing or additional documents in the process of considering an application for a visa, which may lead to an increase in the processing time for a visa application.

Submission of documents for obtaining a national visa for students with admission to study is possible no earlier than 4 months before the start of the planned trip.

Submission of documents for a national visa for internship is possible no earlier than 3 months before the start of the planned trip.

Submission of documents for a national visa for the purpose of working can be submitted no earlier than 3 months before the start of the planned trip.

Submission of documents for a national visa for the purpose of family reunification is possible no earlier than 3 months before the start of the planned trip.

The outcome on your application is in the exclusive competence of the authorized Diplomatic Mission.

An increase in the processing time may occur in the event of a high workload of the Visa Department before Russian and German holidays. In this regard, it is recommended to submit documents well in advance.
