Processing Time

The accepted sets of documents are transmitted through the VisaMetric offices to the German Embassy in Moscow. Processing time for a visa in German Embassy is generally no more than 45 calendar days. The processing time is extended if an extended verification of documents is required or additional information about the applicant or his actual destination needs to be requested.

Kindly note that the review process begins after the documents has been received by the Diplomatic Mission.

Visa application documents can be submitted not earlier than 6 months before the scheduled trip.

We kindly ask you to submit your application in advance as the processing time for each application depends on the Diplomatic Mission. The decision to approve or refuse a visa is entirely up to the Diplomatic Mission.

Applicants also need to be aware that, especially during busy season around German and Russian holidays, the processing time may be extended. In this regard, it is recommended to submit documents in advance.

Accepted sets of documents are forwarded through VisaMetric offices to the German Embassy in Moscow. Based upon the documents submitted to the Embassy, the fact of compliance of each individual case with legal grounds is checked. Depending on the purpose of the stay, the duration of this check can reach several months. The processing period may also be extended if more detailed verification is required, additional information about the applicant or about his actual purpose of stay is requested. Please note that the review process begins from the moment the set of documents is received by the Diplomatic Mission.

Please note that the German Embassy in Moscow reserves the right to request missing or additional documents in the process of considering an application for a visa, which may lead to an increase in the processing time for a visa application.

Submission of documents for a national visa is possible no earlier than 3 months before the start of the planned trip.

The outcome on your application is in the exclusive competence of the Diplomatic Mission.

An increase in the processing time may occur in the event of a high workload of the Visa Department before Russian and German holidays. In this regard, it is recommended to submit documents well in advance.
