National visa (for a stay over 90 days)
If you plan to stay in Germany for more than 90 days, you need to apply for a national visa.
National Visa (D type) is the type of visa that should be obtained when you want to reside in Germany for over 90 days within the validity period of the visa decided upon by the Consulates.
An application for a national visa can only be submitted to the Diplomatic Mission corresponding to the administrative district of your actual residence and only by appointment.
Submission of documents is possible only in Astana and Almaty and only for citizens with an actual residence address belonging to the administrative district of the German Embassy in Astana and the Consulate General in Almaty.
Please note that in order to apply for a national visa, the personal presence of each applicant is required, since on the day of submission of documents, the fingerprinting procedure takes place.

Before the submission:
- Prepare all the required documents.
- Book an appointment.
- Read the general information about applying for a national visa.
- Check your administrative district in accordance with your residence.
- Fill in and print out the application form.
Submission process:
- Reviewing of the provided documents and biometric data collection take place in one of the VisaMetric offices; applications will then be forwarded to the relevant Diplomatic Mission.

In case additional documents are requested from the German Embassy/Consulate General in Kazakhstan, you can use the mail info.kazakhstan@visametric.com (if the actual place of residence refers to the district of the German Embassy in Astana) and documents.almaty@visametric.com (if the actual place of residence refers to the district of the Consulate General of Germany in Almaty), indicating in the subject line of the letter the identification number, surname, first name and date of birth of the applicant.
Please do not send any documents to the Visa Section of the Embassy on your own initiative - mainly before submitting your application. These documents cannot be stored and/or processed at the Visa Section. Please provide a complete set of all required documents at the time of submission.
