Explanation of cancelling your application for a visa


If your application was cancelled you will receive an information letter where you will find the reasons of cancelling in a free form. You can find the information about the common reasons of cancelling below. Please note that there are only common reasons of cancelling in this list, but not all the reasons which could be possible.

1.A false, forged or forged foreign passport or travel document was presented.

  • The foreign passport that you submitted is false or fake.

2.The purpose and conditions of the proposed stay were not confirmed.

  • The necessary documents were not submitted in full. If your application for a visa was rejected solely because of the submission of an incomplete set of documents, the foreign missions recommend that you submit a new application, since the appeal process in this case may take longer.
  • The purpose of your stay is not clear from the submitted documents.
  • The existence of a family relationship (in the case of a guest visa) has not been proven.
  • The requested travel period does not correspond to the possible vacation period.
  • The previous visa, issued at the invitation of the same host, was not used to travel to Germany.
  • During the review of the documents, the hotel/flight reservation you submitted was canceled. You can find the relevant information yourself on the websites www.booking.com, www.hrs.com, www.myairlines.ru, www.checkmytrip.com, www.virtuallythere.com or on the official website of the airline.

3.You have not confirmed that you have sufficient financial resources for the period of your intended stay, or to return to your State of origin or permanent residence, or to travel to a third State, the territory of which you are guaranteed to be able to enter.

  • You have not provided any or insufficient evidence of the availability of funds.
  • To apply for a visa next time, please prepare the appropriate documents, which indicate that you have sufficient financial resources for the duration of your stay.
  • Please note that to confirm the availability of funds, it may not be sufficient to submit a bank statement alone without a bank account statement for the last three months.
  • A statement of commitment / surety (Verpflichtungserklarung) or a statement of expense acceptance/letter of sponsorship may also be submitted as proof of the availability of sufficient funds for the planned stay.
  • Your bank statement was completely or partially fake.

4.You have not confirmed that you are able to legally acquire sufficient financial resources for the period of your intended stay or to return to your State of origin or permanent residence residence or for travel to a third country, on the territory of the territory of which you are guaranteed to be able to enter.

  • You have not provided any or insufficient evidence of the possibility of obtaining financial resources.
  • To apply for a visa next time, please prepare the appropriate documents, which indicate that you can legitimately acquire sufficient financial resources for the duration of your stay.
  • A statement of commitment / surety (Verpflichtungserklarung) or a statement of expense acceptance/letter of sponsorship may also be submitted as proof of the availability of sufficient funds for the planned stay.

5.Within the last 180 days, you have already spent 90 days in the territory of the participating States on the basis of a Schengen visa or a visa with a limited territory of residence.

  • For a period of 180 days, you can only stay in the Schengen area for 90 days. Thus, the issuance of a Schengen visa is possible only after the expiration of the period of the last 180 days.
  • During the year, you have already exceeded the allowed period of stay of 90 days in Germany. This applies exclusively to representatives of certain professions, such as truck/bus drivers, athletes, artists, models.

6. In the information system of the Schengen countries (SIS), a record was made about the refusal of your entry into the country.

  • You have been recorded in the information system of the Schengen countries (SIS). As long as this entry is not canceled, the issuance of a visa, as a rule, is not possible. You can find more information here.

7. In the opinion of one or more Participating States, you pose a threat to public order or internal security.

  • You have been recorded in the Schengen Information System (SIS) as a threat to public order or internal security.
  • You have submitted false documents and/or provided false and / or contradictory information.
  • You have committed an attempt at fraud.
  • You have been entered in the Central Register of Foreigners (AZR). As long as this entry is not canceled, the issuance of a visa, as a rule, is not possible. More information can be found here:

8. In the opinion of one or more Member States, you pose a threat to public health in accordance with Article 2, paragraph 21 of Regulation (EC) No 2016/399 (Schengen Border Code).

  • You have been recorded in the Schengen Information System (SIS) as a threat to public order or internal security.

9. In the opinion of one or more participating States, you pose a threat to his/their international relations.

  • You have been recorded in the information system of the Schengen Agreement (SIS) for a threat to international relations.

10. The information provided about the purpose and conditions of the intended stay was not reliable.

  • You have not provided reliable information or provided contradictory information about the purpose of your stay. Please make sure that the information provided is coherent and consistent with the purpose of your stay.

11.There are good reasons to doubt the accuracy of the information provided.

  • You have provided false and / or contradictory information.
  • You have committed an attempt at fraud.

12.There are good reasons to doubt the authenticity (complete or partial) and authenticity of the documents provided.

  • You submitted forged documents.
  • The documents submitted by you are unreliable or contradictory.

13.There are good reasons to doubt your intention to leave the territory of the member states before the expiration of the visa.

  • Foreign representative offices should make so-called forecasts regarding the applicant's return to their home country. The documents you submitted and / or the information you provided were not sufficient to make a positive forecast. When making such a decision, foreign representative offices are guided by the following:
    • about family relations in the Russian Federation (the presence of a spouse, minor children, persons under guardianship, etc.)
    • about work (having a permanent employment relationship)
    • about financial relations (other regular income from the rental or ownership of real estate)
    • proper use of previously issued Schengen visas
    • about changes in the personal life situation since the receipt of the previous Schengen visa

14. You have not provided sufficient evidence that you are unable to apply for a visa in a timely manner (which would justify applying at the border)

15.You have not provided confirmation of the purpose and conditions of the planned air transit.

  • The necessary documents were not submitted in full. If your application for a visa was rejected solely because of the submission of an incomplete set of documents, the foreign missions recommend that you submit a new application, since the appeal process in this case may take longer.
  • The purpose of your stay is not clear from the submitted documents.

16.You have not provided proof that you have a relevant health insurance policy in force abroad.

  • You have not provided proof of sufficient medical insurance coverage abroad (the minimum insurance amount is 30,000 euros / valid in all countries of the Schengen area).
  • The health insurance policy you submitted is fake.

If your application for a visa was denied

If you have been refused a visa and you have received a corresponding notification of refusal, then it will indicate the reasons for rejecting your application. The applicant can submit a new application, accompanied by a full package of convincing and verifiable documents. Each applicant has the right to apply for paid legal assistance and appeal the decision in court.
