Update on Fingerprint Collection for German National Visa (D-Visa) Applications – Effective 01 September 2026

As of 1 August 2026, fingerprints will be collected from applicants aged 6 years and above as part of the German national visa (D-visa) application process. Children under the age of 6 are exempt from the requirement to give fingerprints.

We would like to inform our applicants accordingly and kindly ask them to take this requirement into account when preparing their application.
