1. Kosovo / FAQ / After Your Application
1. I was required to submit documents that are not included to the list, why?
The Embassy always makes decisions according to each specific situation. The checklist of documents can only include general information covering most, but not all, the possible cases. Consequently, a document not included in the list might be required. This doesn't mean that a visa cannot be issued.
2. How can I check the status of my application?
You can use your application number and passport number to retrieve your application via the Application Tracking section.
3. I have provided an invitation letter for an applicant, which includes proof of my financial capacity. The application was refused because of doubts about the willingness of the applicant to return to his/her country, in spite of the fact that, in my invitation letter, I guaranteed that the person will leave Germany as planned.
The invitation letter can only ensure financial support for the applicant while in Germany. It is not possible to guarantee that the applicant will leave the country. This can only be determined according to the specific personal situation of the applicant.
4. I understand the reason for the refusal, but I still want to go to Germany. Can I apply again?
You can always submit a new visa application. Book an appointment and prepare all the documents included in the checklist. If you have asked for your application to be re-examined, this process will be terminated after you submit a new application.
5. Will the fees be refunded in case of refusal?
The fees are independent from the decision regarding an application and are charged to cover the costs of administrative operating expenses. The fees cannot be returned if the visa application is refused.
6. I have found a mistake in my visa sticker. What should I do?
Please check the visa sticker when collecting your passport and immediately contact the responsible German Embassy.
7. I obtained a one-year visa, the number of days is “90” and entry is “MULT”. What exactly does it mean?
This visa allows you to stay in the Schengen area for no more than 90 days within a six-month period, starting from the day you first enter a Schengen country. Also, you can enter and leave the Schengen area multiple times during this period. Please note that you can not make up for the days you did not use within the last six months. Once you have used up the 90 days within the current half a year, you have to leave the country and you will not be able to return before the beginning of the next six-month period.
8. I obtained a one-entry visa. Can I travel freely within the Schengen area, or should I stay only in one country?
Single entry only refers to your first entry into the Schengen area. If you travel from Germany to another Schengen country, and then come back, this will not be considered an extra entry.
9. I obtained a Schengen visa valid for 15 days from the German Embassy and I would like to spend 10 days in Germany. Before, I would also like to spend 5 days in Italy. Am I allowed to do so?
In principle, yes. As long as Germany is still your main destination, you can enter the Schengen area from another country. The border authorities of the first Schengen country you enter might require you to provide proof that you will later travel to the country that issued your visa. If you cannot provide such evidence, you might not be allowed to cross the border.
10. I have an emergency trip but my passport is still at the German Embassy. Can I withdraw my application without a review?
There is a possibility to request a withdrawal of documents from the Embassy in emergencies cases only. Applicants should visit the VisaMetric office and clarify the issue.
